Pitching duel
The Cubs gave up only two hits and lost 1-0. The only team feeling worse is the White Sox, who gave up only one hit but still managed to lose 2-1. The Cubs’ bats, or lack thereof, killed them, while the Sox were killed by errors. I have no idea what was in the water at Wrigley yesterday, but both starting pitchers had double-digit strike-out totals. They made the hitters look awful. I saw a few low strikes called, but for the most part the game was pretty well called.
Whatever if was, Ryan Theriot wasn’t effected. He had 3 of the 4 Cubs hits and has made it impossible for Lou to take him out of the line-up.
Just noticed an oddity in the Cubs schedule this week. They play two games vs the Padres at home, then take the shortest roadtrip I can remember. After only two games in Atlanta, they return home for another homestand. The scheduler obviously isn’t given a bonus for creating a fuel efficient schedule.
