Game postponed

It’s getting eerie, yet another Cubs/Cardinals game postponed due to the death of a Cardinals pitcher.  Josh Hancock, who pitched three innings against the Cubs on Saturday, was killed in a car accident early Sunday morning.  He was only 29 years-old.  Everyone, please drive safely!

I was at the game in 2002 when Joe Girardi came out of the dugout and announced to the sell-out crowd at Wrigley that the scheduled game between the Cubs and Cardinals would be postponed due to a tragedy in the Cardinals family.  By then, word had spread throughout the ballpark that one of the players had died, but the rumor erroneously had the player dead in the clubhouse.  Darryl Kile had actually died in his hotel room.
