Hopefully the day off won’t cool them off

The Cubs are on a 5-game winning streak, the longest of this short season.  They are 5-0 in May for the first time in many decades.  With the Phillies, the Mets and the White Sox coming up on the schedule soon, it’s not a bad time to be playing good ball.

Ronny Cedeno was sent down in order for Angel Guzman to be brought up to pitch Sunday’s game.  The Cubs website had a question for its readers, asking if they agreed with the move or whether Felix Pie should have been sent down instead.  Not surprisingly, 94.8% agreed that Pie is the future and should have stayed in the Majors.  Only 5.2% felt that Ronny should have stayed.  (The survey had 3800 responses when I last checked.)  Now we just need to get Pie into that crowded outfield.

Ryne Sandburg got thrown out of his first ballgame as a manager yesterday.  He was only ejected twice in his entire career as a player!  I wonder if he’s going to use Pinella as his role model for managing?
