The Cubs send the President home with a loss
The Cubs knew that George W. was at tonight’s game versus the Nationals. I’m certainly glad they didn’t play like they cared. By beating the Nationals and winning the series, the Cubs have now won four series in a row. Combined with the Brewers losing earlier in the day, the Cubs are now 4 1/2 games out.
I was kinda worried when I heard tonight’s line-up, but I guess I need to start trusting Lou a little more. He rested Lee, Theriot and DeRosa. That’s not as scary as the fact that he started Jones and Izturis. Jones actually had two doubles, but Izturis went hitless. Fontenot was back to his usual form after going hitless the last few days. He had three hits and has his average back to .365.
Now it’s off to play the Pirates, who were kind enough to take three of four from the Brewers. Surely Pittsburgh is now ready to lose a few before the break!
