Let’s nip this in the bud

It’s not time to panic, it’s only two losses in a row. We’ve just gotten so used to winning that it’s hard to look at a 7-3 homestand as good when you lose the last two. With a day off to regroup, Lee returning from his suspension and Zambrano taking the mound on Tuesday, the Cubs should be able to nip this losing streak in the bud. I’m a lot less worried that we’ve lost due to a lack of hitting for a few days than if our pitchers had been getting shelled. Losing 3-2 and 3-0 isn’t a sign of impending disaster, it’s baseball — and it’s a long season.

Looks like Kerry Wood came into town for more than just his charity bowling event, which was held tonight. He’s headed to Peoria to pitch for Ryno’s Class A team in a rehab start on Tuesday. Anyone thinking about a roadtrip should know that he’s most likely only going to pitch one inning.

Safe travels to anyone making the trip to St. Louis for the upcoming series. Remember to represent the Cubs and Chicago well. There’s nothing worse than bad winners or sore losers. (I’ve seen my share of both types of opposing fansĀ at Wrigley this year.)
