Back on the winning track

It was fitting to have Lee (back from his suspension) and Dempster (off the DL) both play a role in last night’s win over the Cardinals. I had a feeling that we’d need that insurance run that Lee drove in in the 9th, but I didn’t think it would be due to an error by Soriano. My friend Adam was just sharing his concern about Soriano’s fielding prowess this weekend. I like Soriano’s arm, but I think lately he’s been thinking more about throwing the runner out than ensuring that he gets the ball in his hand in the first place. I’m also not a big fan of that hop he does before catching fly balls. Reminds me of Sammy’s home run hop, which I also didn’t like.

DeRosa left last night’s game with hamstring tendinitis. Hopefully he won’t be out long, as he’s been a lifesaver this year playing every position asked of him. With Cedeno back up from Iowa, maybe DeRosa can take a week off to rest the hamstring and not have to take an extended break.
