No sweep, no problem

I don’t mean to sound like a Pollyanna, but I’m not going to fret about every loss. Anyone that thinks the Cubs should sweep every series, especially against a team that the Cubs haven’t swept at their place in twenty years, doesn’t have realistic expectations. I’ll take the series win and happily move on to Cincinnati. Not to say that I wouldn’t have loved to capitalize on a Milwaukee loss, but at least we didn’t fall back in the standings.

As the trade deadline nears, I’m not hearing any reliable rumors about any serious Cubs trades. Hendry is still looking for more power for the bench, but I hear that Murton is being brought up. He’s been hitting well in Iowa, so maybe he can spell Floyd in right and have a strong second half.

I just hope that the Cardinals homer barrage rubs off on the Cubs bats as they leave town. (They even seem to know how to hit them with runners on base.) It was great to see Lee get back in the swing of things. He’s due for a hot streak.
