Walks will kill you

We all knew that Zambrano wasn’t going to win every start the rest of the way. I’m just surprised that he didn’t implode worse yesterday, giving up only one run but walking seven in five innings. The walks came back to haunt us, as both Mets runs (before the 9th) were the result of walks. Dempster also walked his first batter in the 9th, who later scored the winning run, although those were some very close pitches. The pitchers just need to throw strikes and give our stellar defense a chance to perform.

The Mets seem to have our number this year but we need to find a way to win this series. Hopefully it is a preview of the NLCS matchup!  :-)

I’m off to the ballgame today. I’d love to see Woody come in and pitch a meaningless 8th inning; no pressure because the Cubs would have a huge lead. It was great to see him up in the bullpen yesterday. With all the work he’s put in, it would be nice to see a happy ending to the Kerry Wood story — and I’d like to see it end with the Cubs instead of some other team reaping the rewards.
