Home Sweep Home

OK, so we lost one game to Cincinnati, but 7-1 is still a great homestand. Lilly finally gets his first win and the bats stay hot. Cedeno is doing his best to stay in the line-up with a 2-hit, 5-RBI day, including a grand slam. He might eventually win me over yet. Fukudome just keeps getting on base, going 3 for 3 with 2 walks. Maybe he’s rubbing off on some of his teammates.

Did anyone else notice that this offensive explosion started after Soriano went on the DL? I know he’s got to come back next week, but I certainly hope that Lou doesn’t put him back at lead-off. Something is working now, so don’t break it.

Now we’re off to see the Rockies. I’d like to see the bats stay hot to support Hill. This is the only trip to Colorado this season, so it would also be nice for the Cubs to redeem themselves after the last two games they played there last year.

Speaking of Cincinnati, Dusty (remember Dusty) has been thrusting Corey Patterson on us in the leadoff spot. Finally, he tried someone else, and he did get 4 hits last night.

    Jerry Hairston, Jr.

Well, it’s still better than Patterson.
