Pitching, Hitting, Making it Look Easy

Big Z gave the Cubs seven strong innings, the bats provided five insurance runs in the 8th and the bullpen was perfect. What was a nice surprise was the identity of the offensive heroes last night. Rameriz hitting the ultimate game-winning two-run homer isn’t surprising, but Cedeno and Pie getting the 5 RBIs with two outs in the 8th was something special.

Not only have the Cubs gotten off to a great start, but their record at Wrigley is 9-4. The last few seasons the Cubs have had a problem winning at Wrigley early in the season. Despite my griping about the schedule, the weather has been unusually pleasant for April baseball in Chicago. I haven’t had to wear my winter coat to a game yet. The slightly cool weather even helps to keep my beer chilled. Of course, I’m looking forward to not wearing a coat at all to the games. Those days will be here soon enough.

Well, time to sweep these Mets out of town…
