No Place Like Home…
Boy, is it good to be home again. After a dismal three games in Tampa, where the Cubs managed to go on their first three game losing streak of the year, the Cubs were ready to get back to the Friendly Confines - and natural grass. Both stadiums on this last road trip were domed with artificial turf. It did a number on Edmonds’ foot and probably didn’t help Johnson’s back. Now that we’re back on grass, hopefully these two can get healthy and get back in the game.
The first game against our cross-town rival White Sox lived up to the hype. The big boys finally stepped it up a notch for the Cubs, with Lee and Ramirez hitting back-to-back jacks in the 7th (earning some lucky fan $7,000) and Ramirez hitting a walk-off homer in the 9th to cap another exciting come-back win. If these two guys can get hot at the same time, look out NLC.
Would love to write more, but today’s game is a 12:05 start and I’d like to get to Wrigley early. I hope to soak up some of the good vibes left over from yesterday’s game, and hopefully leave some of our own that will last until tomorrow night’s game. Let’s make it a lucky 13 wins in a row at home.
