Fun Time in Cheeseland

I’ve recovered from my trip to Miller Park on Tuesday night. A good time was had by all. We sampled the local brews, cheese (on my pizza) and brats (not this vegetarian). I even visited the new Harley-Davidson Museum just minutes from the park. It’s a recommended side-trip the next time you visit Milwaukee if you’re interested in bikes at all.

Miller Park was full of Cubs fans, who for the most part behaved themselves. Most of the Brewers fans were also very welcoming. One even thanked me and other Cubs fans for coming up to so many games over the last few years, which he claims helped pay for their current team. Of course, he and the other Brewers fans left prior to the end of the game, not wanting to hear an acappella version of “Go Cubs Go.”

During this four game winning streak, the Cubs pitching has been great, the bats have woken up and the defense has been strong. They seem to be playing with confidence for the first time on the road. A win today for a sweep of the four-game series wouldn’t bury Milwaukee, but it would bring them back to the reality that the Cubs are going to be the team to beat, and they’re not going quietly.

One brief note on Tuesday’s game; Lou needs to fine Zambrano every time he breaks a bat across his knee, as he did when he popped up a bunt the other night. His temper tantrums can’t be tolerated. When he puts his health at risk, he’s also playing with the team’s future success. Not a laughing matter.
